The Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID006 Course deals with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The course is delivered via our web-based on-line learning in conjunction with face-to-face training sessions in the field, a flexible blended learning environment.
On successful completion, participants will be able to:- respond appropriately in an emergency situation, including the ability to identify, assess immediate hazards to self and others - apply first aid procedures for a wide-range of situations including: trauma - management - basic triage for a multiple casualty incident - assessed airway, breathing and responsiveness of casualty/casualties - perform CPR for both adult and child - Use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED) - first aid procedures including; allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, asthma, cardiac arrest, choking and airway obstruction, convulsions, epilepsy, eye injuries, head and spinal injuries, poisoning, respiratory distress, severe bleeding and shock. - correct application of cervical collars, spinal boards, back boards and stretchers - conduct a secondary survey, including checking pulse and recording rate - complete first aid records, debrief and evaluation.
This course is designed for workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings, this course is ideal for:- schools and colleges - sporting and recreation facilities - office and commercial premises - manufacturing sites - rescue and life saving organisations - volunteer organisations.
Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.
